During the early to mid 1950's, New England Street was added, consisting of homes, businesses, and a park. It was later renamed Colonial Street. According to Jack Mathis in "Republic Confidential Vol. I", this area was seen quite extensively in the 1956 film "When Gangland Strikes". During the first two years of the television series "Leave It To Beaver", the Cleaver home was on the west side of the street, a couple of houses from the northern end (when the show moved production to Universal Studios following the second season, they also
changed homes, occupying the Ronald Reagan home from the Bonzo series and the future home of Marcus Welby M.D.--the latter house facade used to be on the lower backlot, but has been moved up the hill in more recent years).
