The Melody Ranch set was built in 1940 for the Gene Autry film "Melody Ranch", consisting of a ranch house and a barn with a distinctive gambrel roof. The barn contained a practical interior. This structure later had a modern day residential facade added to it. After the "My Three Sons" show moved to CBS, this barn/house became their home.
