NEWHALL LAND & FARM

The Newhall Land and Farm was incorporated on July 1, 1883 by the five sons of Henry Mayo Newhall (William, Edwin, Henry, Walter, and George). Henry Newhall had purchased Rancho San Francisco from some speculators who had purchased it from Ygnacio del Valle in the hopes of finding crude oil. Newhall Ranch encompassed nearly the entire Santa Clarita Valley. Now, most of their land has been sold off and subdivided. In an area known as Indian Dunes, now long gone, they had several standing sets, including a fort set and an airport.
